    Question Piston Deburr

    My pistons have some sharp edges. I was thinking about deburring them by hand with some sand paper. I did a search and saw where Shawn deburred his with a dremel, I am a little nerveous about taking a dremel to my pistons. Please school me on this

    Shaun took a dremel to them to smooth over the domes. If your talking about the domes, thats fine, just do what he did, and take your time. Do not get in a hurry. If your talking around the pin bores, or the bottom of the skirts, oil drain back holes, you need a deburring tool or a small fine file set.

    if your dropping them in on a fresh cyl bore, make sure to debur the bottom of each cylinder too

    Dare to be different, if it turns out great you can claim you planned it that way.

    Some years back I used #800 wet/dry on a set of TRW domes, took just about all night, in the garage, sitting on a bucket, listening to KLOS, nursing a Coors light, looked very nice when the job was done, I was told no power tools.

    Anyone can pedal a bicycle, can you pedal a flat?????

    It's always a good idea. I usually spend no less than a half hour on each piston before they;re done. If hand fitting to a chamber, a lot longer than that.
