Default ok, let's see how far of sim programs are, use you dyno program on this!

here's the basic need to know stuff on my lil mighty mouse project single turbo sbc. parts are bought, motor is goin together and i'm goin to dyno after xmas, hopefully the 2nd wk of january.figured we could play with our sim programs and see wtf its "supposed" to put out:

    gm lm7 5.3 liter 325 cid
706 alum heads with factory size valves
    gm hyd roller hotcam 218/228duration 525/525lift 114lsa
76mm inducer garrett turbo with .96 ar and will move 94lbs
    open exhaust
    750cfm blow thru carb
huge air to water ic with at least 150% efficiency
    gmpp max flow carb intake

    here's the headflow file:

    Stock Head Flow Numbers
    Chamber 61.15 cc----0.100--0.200--0.300-- 0.400--0.500---0.550---0.600
    Intake 200 cc----------63 ---128----179-----210----218----221-----226
    Exhaust 70 cc----------54 -- 93 ----121----145-----163----168----174

    Combustion Chamber Volume: 61.15cc
    Compression Ratio: 9.5:1
    Intake Port Volume: 200cc
    Exhaust Port Volume: 70cc
    Intake Valve Diameter: 1.89 inches
    Exhaust Valve Diameter: 1.55 inches

the motor will race on 18-20lbs of boost(on pumpgas) and will live 95% of its life at 15lbs of boost on pumpgas

i did my numbers at 18lbs and keep coming up with over 1100hp at 6500, lil over 1000ftlbs at 4500. what do yall come up with?

Dare to be different, if it turns out great you can claim you planned it that way.

I'm a total rookie, very much wet behind the ears. Will detonation be an issue with a 9.5:1 motor and a turbo on low octane fuel? How much heat can that intercooler pull out of the system? Sounds like an awesome motor!

Tom, I hate to tell ya this but the eff. of that intercooler isnt going to be anywhere near 150% with an e-bay intercooler, probably wouldnt make that happen with a good intercooler .

If the turbo/supercharger puts 150 degrees F into the charge when compressing the air, and the intercooler removes 110 of those degrees, then the efficiency is:
    Eff = 110 / 150 = .733, or 73.3% (this formula is straight off the bell site)

    http://www.are.com.au/feat/techt/intercooler.htm

For maximum efficiency a air to water intercooler is the only way. An air to water intercooler can in fact have a better than 100% efficiency rating.

let's take billy's set-up for example since i used overkill ics on them also. he's making around 250* of hot boost when maxing out on the compressor map. his hat is cold enuff to cause condensation to form on it which means its well below ambient temp outside, so we'll assign say 60* to that temp, and once that emulsifies the fuel thru the carb , its gonna drop that much more, say another 20*, ok, we'll end up with a intake charge at or around 40*(which is about right, frost forms on the intake runners, not just condensation)

so we do 180/250 =1.388888 or 139% efficiency regardless, we're well over 100%

i'm runnin a ic that should support twice my hp goal, ic pressure drop will be lower than .2lbs, and the cores inside it are way more than nuff to say its gonna have a 140% efficiency on my deal if not better. when you're using sim programs, all it wants to know by asking for the efficiency is what the intake will see as intake air temp, then it assigns a given value to what ever efficiency# you plug into it.

the ebay coolers are doin a far better job than they should , but as i said, i went with 2 big 1's on billy's, and 1 huge 1 on mine. even 1 of billy's ics is outflowing that banks deal you're runnin , so i don't see a reason for your hesistation in runnin 1. true bar and plate cores as well, that banks ic you have isn't, or at least it doesn't look like it to me when i saw it.

    another site i frequent alot:

    http://www.stealth316.com/2-turbotemp.htm

has some nice calculators on there if you're into turbo motors

here's a good read for you doubters of these ls motors

    http://www.theturboforums.com/smf/in...topic=132278.0

try doin that to any stock bbc, ole sbc, or bbf mine isn't exactly stock anymore, i couldn't help myself on somethings but i know i'll be layin down at least 900hp before 6500 on pump gas for less than 3200 total investment in the runnin set-up, let's see yall try it
