Default 555CID BBC Pump gas 898HP.....

One of my customers, Lewis Racing Engines, just got done with a 555 CID. It is a pump gas 11 to 1 engine single Dominator with a set of Boggs 24 degree Edelbrock Victors and a solid roller "cam picker" special. I'l post the sheet when up but she is 898HP @ 6900 and still 870HP @ 7500. Torque was 742#/ft peak, don't have the rpm as of yet. She will idle at 1000 rpm. Cam is a tad over 800" lift and in the mid 260 @ .050.

Now for the unreal part. . .this is going in 4 door Biscane on the Big island of HI. 4 speed car. Should make for some real FUN.....

Was the cam pick with the spinning dart board method, or more hi tech loike the way they draw the lotto numbers with the air chamber. What yr Biscane. Must be an import, they don't don't let old cars hang around on the islands to long if they don't run, before they force them into a scrap pile.

    Widow,
No and when he says its got air. . .well nevermine.

    Lucky,
Mike is top notch. When he called on this project about me "picking' the cam for it I said sure. He and Darlene are good people along with the "pack".

    GN7,
Dart board of course but being an air car I hung the board outside so I could adjust for wind conditions.

Peak torque of 742#/ft was at 5400 rpm. Hmm, dual carbs and this may be "jetable"....

    Chris,

i am thinking of doing a similar engine but on E-85.
Care to guess at HP/TQ numbers with 13-1 OR 14-1 your cam pick on E-85???

At over .800 lift will the valve train survive limited use on the street?

    Thanks, Jim

Jim would not guess at this time. Anytime you get into this kind of power it may say street car but it is a race car on the street. Therefore maintenance will be more frequent then if it was a 700HP mill.
