Default Flame arrestor air flow constrictions?

    Hi guys,

I have been looking all over for air flow ratings for
    Marine air cleaners / arrestors.

There should be some formulation data avialabile...

Carb CFM info is all over the web,and how to calculating carb size requirements to CI, RPM and VE

I am going to be installing a stage 2 -1050 carb on my SC540 and dont know if the arrestor will be too small

    Thanks
    Chad

Cyclone and I did a pretty good comparison of many types of Arrestors many years ago. Only HP number differences were printed in the mag. The 10x3 eddie seemed to be the best with less re-jet from wide open. Some were horrible.

K & N Air filter web sight seggests that their product will flow an efficient 6.03 CFM per square inch of filter area

    That formula would result
    8" X 3" Filter will flow 450 CFM
    10" X 3" would be 567CFM
    12" X 3" would be 678 CFM

You would think that arrestor screen would flow more than air filter media but how much?

Air filter media is pleated, increasing filter surface, and Arrestors (that I have seen) are sraight sided.

I've seen some that were rated, but I had a really hard time finding this info too. When I asked, I was just told to run the largest one I had space for...
