Default first experience with "PROCOMP MSD wannabe distributor

Just want to warn anyone that might be thinking about buying one of those E-bay "bargain" MSD look a like distributors for $50.00! on the outside, in the bright sunlight, you could almost mistake a PROCOMP
for an MSD, untill you take the "copycap" off! customer/friend had bought
one, and put it in his car, and of course, he couldn't get it to run! I went
by his house, pulled it out, and took it apart. has a cheap knock off HEI
Style mag pickup, a cheesy stamped thin reluctor tacked to the shaft,
crooked, too! the weights are rough, the welds on the weight pins burn
over into where the weights ride, the top plate is also cocked on the shaft, and in my opinion, not enough freeplay in the shaft(up &down)
I spent the better part of 2 hours trying to make the thing usable, replacing the weights w/ msd's, along with the correct springs( it doesn't
come w/any curve options btw, sanded and debured everything, replaced
mag pickup w/one out of a good old GM HEI, ran a new harness (didn't
like the 18g wire on the PC) and stuck it back in. it fired right up, but
who knows how long it will last, or what kind of timing stability you can expect from it! new MSD is on order for friend, just thought i'd warn anyone thinking about purchasing this junk

    Default Pro comp

My only experiance with pro comp has been with two "billet" fuel logs. The logs were not advertised as pro comp and looked really bitchen in the photos, with a price to good to be true. As the saying goes it was to good to be true, they are so crappy I left them in the box's collecting dust chalking it up as a lesson earned. The color of the anodizing alone is so bad I would not run them much less the fit and finish. Just my.02 SJ

And to think, the owner of Pro Comp needs a dump truck to haul the money to the bank. Its one thing to buy Scat, Eagle, K1, Compstar etc, where the vast majority of the money you spend actually stays here. But ProComp is entirely import junk from a scam artist in Aussie land. About all that in this country is a warehouse.

and have ya seen the Crower/Norris copy rockers? for like $150.00!
I just don't think so! then I saw the stainless SHAFT setup, that LOOK
ALMOST just like T&D's, for like $295.00! give me a break!(more like give
me broken parts for sure!) Think I'll stay with my old Crower stuff! It's
proven it's durability, and in my opinion, well worth the initial investment!
had a set in my motor for over 10 years, at close to .700 lift, no issues!
wonder how many weeks the china junk would survive before ruining a
    motor?

Your friends ignition didn't work because he had the wrong spark plug wires on it. Can you believe these things carry an ISO 2001 cert. Yeah, theose rockers are the chit. A boat in the 300 miler broke 3 of them before they finally threw in the towel.

Just cause you are ISO certified does not mean you have a good product. Only means you have procedures and books.

How do you know that they aren't certified but just say so ? They lie about everything else. Copy...lie...copy...lie...copy...lie...and make shit.

Anyone that buys ProComp deserves what they get. And I don't say that often.

Why is this site so full of ProComp and Ebay buyers ? The warnings have been out for a long time.
