Thanks guys Not to jack my own thread but does high altitude (say 4500 ft) typicaly you'd jet leaner right? And early in the year when it's cooler, leaner? also is your pv supposed to match your vac. or be 1/2 of it. I doubt I have 6.5 lbs of vac at idle with my cam but I've also never checked.

Power valve # is half of engine vac. You would prob be suprised at what it has. What jets are in it now and how much timing are you running?

I had jetted up to 78's and 90's because I was running a single tr and had to jet rich to keep 5 and 7 "alive" now I've got a vic jr. I thought I'd try those and read some plugs, but I can't get her started. Pulled the plugs yesterday to check, and regap(because I just dropped in an hei) and they were black and sooty and wet. I've put 72's and 85's in now. As far as timing .......well my total is 42ish, I know everyone is going to say thats way too much, but you'll just have to take my word it will run way better 45* than 35*. Maybe now the t.r. is gone that will effect my timing also. I dunno? When I was convinced my timing mark was bad I had it up to 55* and no ping? Keep in mind i'm at altitude. As far as verifing the timing mark, I haven't pulled a head but pulling a plug it seems to be within a couple *'s.

When I blew the motor up the 1st time it did lift a ring on either 5 or 7. If I still had the set of ot's that was on it when I bought I'd put up a pic, it acually melted #7's tube right off the flange.(before I bought it) haha ,maybe that should have been my 1st clue. f'n single t ram

I am just wondering if you dont have enought fuel pump or restictive fittings. I have seen this before. Jet it up and it runs rich as hell at low-mid speed and leans out at the upper end.

I forgot to mention when I blew it up,it did ping to death, but from lack of octaine. Can you say 1st time I filled it up. Just needs a little octaine booster the guy that sells it to me says.
