    Default School me on Rings

So many choices out there what would you recommend for a 100 mph jet boat motor.

Pistons have 1/16 ring glands, may see a blower or Nos some day.

I think we want to go with a gapless set but not sure which ones? What is the benifit of the upper ring vs middle ring vs both being gapless?

Are gapless rings worth the extra money or just a good set of file to fit low tension rings be just about as good? How much HP might we be leaving on the table if we don't spend the $400 bucks on the most expensive set of rings out there?

What ring set would you recommend for a motor thats over budget already with out sacrificing too much HP?

I have a good set for a Chevrolet 100 mph Jet Boat Motor. They are barely used, and they came off the Pistons in 3 pieces, so they are adjustable to fit ANY BBC bore size. All you need is torch and some wire hanger Rod to tack them in the Ring Grooves on your Pistons and you're set!!!!! Cheap too!

I like the total seal gapless rings but ive seen sum weird stuff with the second as the gapless so i use the top gapless and the second as a file fit and they work great on blown and nitrous aplications when set up rite.

I will agree 100% about the issue with the gapless second ring. I have to confess that I am not a huge fan of gapless rings though. If I were in your shoes I would go with a decent file-to-fit ring of your choice. If you are really trying to pinch pennies and it is a pump gas deal you could go with a basic moly ring. You are giving up some ponies, but at least you will be on the water. If you go that route, make sure the gap on the second ring is just as much as the top ring.

I would not use the same rings for juice or boost that I would in a N/A application (just my opinion).
