I know that's the way the British were doing it.......It explains why my 56 Healey has a 4 cyl with 3.4375" bore and 4.375" stroke. Con rods are 8.183" long.

No. Daimler is(was?) a British car manufacturer. Probably best known here in the states for their 60's offering of a rather odd looking roadster called the SP250. Had a little hemi-headed V-8 in it.
