In my 565 I'm running 262/268 @ .050, with a 110 LSA, installed at 109 ICL with no problems, but I do have the spring in the " T " valve shimmed so it blocks water flow to the pipes till 1800 rpm. No flow at idle and the flow stops at 1800 when returning to idle.

    Through transom or over ?

With through transom the engine water gets dumped into the collector so the hose doesn't get burned up.

My 565" 278-284 @ .050 ( 112 lobe sep) has enough reversion that it pulls water back to the last 2 cylinders on each side while running on the trailer. In the water it idles at 900 rpm with a lope and 1,100 smooth.

    ^^^

    A cam with a 240'ish @ .050 on a 112* lobe ctr will not be the same as a cam with a 240'ish @ .050 on a 108* lobe sep.
