CHEAP, FAST, & GOOD. as the old saying goes- pick 2 of the 3! in the case of pro-crap, you get the first two in that order only! do yourself a
favor and buy an AMERICAN MADE HEAD! YOU will thank yourself later,
when your valves don't come apart, or your junk guides don't wear, etc.
if I can afford good ones, you should be able to also!

We all can. Most of us just chose not to. But I will give you some suggestions. If you chose to run Pro Crap Heads, you should probably go with a Acme racing cam

Na, not neccesary unless he is actually going to race it. Or at the very least buys a "full race" cam.

In all seriousness dentz, Steelcomp on the boards here, has some bare Canfield heads he can set up any way required, and he can point you in the right direction as far as cam choice for them. You do not want to buy a set of Pro Comps. Bare they are junk and require too much work to make half decent. Assemebled they are pure crap and you risk loosing the whole motor because of a dropped valve or worse. He may still have some oval port iron heads left that he installed larger valves in and set up with decent springs and a good valve job.

Geez, thought leading him to a decent, well set up, pair of oval port iron heads was a budget deal. If your refering to the Pro Comp heads, NOT ECONOMICAL. Pity the fool that thinks they are. When times are tough, it time to buy smart, not foolishly. If alumn is in his budget, I still stick by my previous post about the Canfields.

GN is right...I can set you up with either some decent large ovals, or a set of Canfields. Mild to wild, whatever you need, but I don't sell "cheap" stuff.

I also have a nice ported set of Canfields for a blower deal...good valves, polished chambers, flow sheets, ready to rock. They're just sitting here collecting dust. The cat sleeps on 'em once in a while, but that's just cat hair...no extra charge.

And they are paid for. So all you have to do is pick them up.

38 gears and a powerglide ? If you want to keep these two, dump the pistons, and intake. Build an iron headed 468" blower motor. Hand massage some GM heads, use good valves and springs. Run a flat tappet cam, forged pistons, and Titan or Cometic gaskets. Used 850's on a 6/71-8/71 will pull that stuff around. IMHO, if you want to run a 'single carb deal', dump the trans and get down to some 15's or 18's .
