    Default idle issues with carb

hey guys so i picked up a holley 3310-1 780 vacuum secondary. it was rebuilt/restored and he did a beautiful job. threw it on the boat the thing was running great. started and idled awesome real crisp. took the boat out for a little run. plugs looked real light gonna fatten it up. took a look at the float level it seemed a little low. i brought the float level up just below the sight holes and readjusted the idle screws with a vacuum guage. went fine. fired it up later and didnt want to start or idle like it was previously. i lowered the float level some and readjusted idle screws but still not as well as it was. any suggestions? want it to start and idle nice but wont a low float level have an effect on running on the top end? any input would help lots

Start with the basics, check for vacuum leaks. Also, check you ignition timing. Do you have a vacuum advance distributor?

With the additives in gas it may take more time to color, I always use octane boost to check color the plug porclain will turn red

I'll bet you were running more initial than that when the vac advance was working.

i just built this motor. never ran with the vacuum advance. had it on the water once with 12 initial and 30 total with the mech advance. been playing with it today put some bigger mains in it and readjusted the floats and idle screws. ran it with the hose and double checked timing. ran good and timing looks good starts good. it had a little puddling in the intake...wonderig if maybe from repeated starts on the trailer while tinkering?
