Just wondering what the proper way to install a rectangular port intake on a set of oval port heads was.

This from a guy that swears his rods are straight and his block is wrecked...

Put the rectangular gasket up against the oval ports and see what if any shrouding of the jackets or combustion chamber, valves, etc. If the sealing surface of the gasket has enough clear clamping space, you can go ahead, but... why would you want to???

Just some of those "special" things you find when you take something apart.

As far as the intake thing goes.......I'm a little slow ...would you do the rect. on oval deal because no one makes a single plane oval port manifold?? Or do they? I've never seen/heard of one?

Yes they do make them. Some people think that the rectangle port intake on an oval port head will make more power than matching oval to oval. If that is true (I can't confirm) and you already have nice heads, it would be worth it to buy the rectangle intake to increase volume to the heads.

i went with what steelcomp said and bought me a dart single plane oval intake.they are nice

brodix, edelbrock, dart, wiend team g,ect all make oval port tall single plan intakes.

as far as mismatching the ports for better power well that still remains a myth
