Default 4 cylinder Turbo Anyone Done it ?

Im just wondering if anyone here or there.. Has done a 4 cylinder Turbo install into a Jet Boat ?

Because i know of some engines capable of 400-600 HP that are small CI 4 cylinder engines, Nissan has a SR20 Engine capable of 400 on realatily stock bottom end with a T28 turbo running around 16-20 lbs of boost.

There is also Honda engines out there producing 600+ on a 2.2 liter engine running 18-26 lbs of boost.

Oh yeah and how much of a factor is torque in a Jet Boat ?
on average 4 cylinders make about 15-20% less torque than HP.. IE 500HP engine makes around 380-410ish torque..

I know there is no replacement for displacement..
But im just wondering about the Wieght savings ? If the savings would benifit that much.. Or is there a certain level of wieght needed in the rear ?

Im just looking at options, right now im thinking 5.3 LS engine..

But then i was thinking about this.. Im still pretty new to the boat world..

But let me know what you think..

    and thanks guys

Torque if very important! If you like turbos, put them on a big V8. The saying goes if alot is good, more is better!

There are a few videos floating around of a guy who put a turbo'd Rotary into a small jet and that thing HAULED. Id say if you are willing to run a 4banger on the edge to get the performance of a regular ironclad V8, go ahead.

    EDIT:

    found a video.

Thats pretty sweet you know any more info on that boat ?
    Speed ?
    Impeller ?
    HP ?
    RPM ?

Myself i dont know much about rotarys..
Just know i have a SR20 Car and ppl are makn alot of HP with the same engine.. and i have 3 blocks and two heads.. and i can get a real time programable ECU for $400.
Engine prolly wieghs 350ish.. Could prolly get a reliable 450 HP with Rods, Pistons, ballanced.. Stock crank has proven to hold up to about 600..

Also is there a Speed rpm, impeller sheet ? tried searching get a rpm impeller.
just curious like what a D impeller @ 7000K is about for Speed ?

Yep. That is what I am working on now. A Rotary. So far has dynoed at 600+ hp with twin turbos. Only weighs a couple of hundred pounds. Need to find a 16 footer to put it in. Still need to make mounts and a pto. I had been keeping it a secret but it ain't working.

A friend does Honda V6s for sand cars with great success. He buys the motors out of wreaks for 6 - 800.00. Slaps turbos on them and for less than 3000. they haul ass. He makes all the wiring harnesses and ECUs for plug and play, lap top tuning ect.He has a buddy that makes the adapters for different trans.
He runs them hard to 8000.
He told me there is no better HP for the $$.in a sand car.

Dare to be different, if it turns out great you can claim you planned it that way.
