    Default Nitrous fuel system question

Can any of you guys that are already running nitrous shed some light........

Will 1.5 gallons of fuel capacity be enough for a 15 lb. bottle of nitrous ?? It will be a seperate fuel system only when nitous is being used. I just need enough to get through a bottle at a time.....just not sure, and I don't feel like learning the expensive way. Thanks

    Default fuel usage

Yes, 1.5 gallons will outlast a 15lb bottle. If you will be using the whole bottle in one outing, otherwise play it safe and refill the fuel tank between rounds.

Wayne stop by at the Irvine show and we can show you what we did on Jordan's boat, its river friendly for n20. It has 3 bypasses to keep fuel flowing when the noids are closed, might want to consider doing something similar.

You dont use much of any fuel on a nitrous pass, that size tank will be fine. You could probably run multiple bottles and not have to refill that tank. What regulator are you using?

We pumped almost 40 lbs. of nitrous through my deal last race. Stuff is addicting.

We have a separate 1.25 gallon tank for the methanol. It will out last 4 ten pound bottles. The system has a by-pass to keep the pressure steady at 5.5 lbs.

I refer to nitrous as " sex in a bottle" as CS said it's addicting

so you're enriching with methanol? i've been wanting to run the nitrous with methanol, run 112 on the motor but i just haven't herd any results from other guys. my nx kit is alky capatible up to 500hp, 800hp on gas. my whole set-up is alky capable.

Been running it that way since 1993. With the same size Nos pill the methanol will add approx. 50 hp. The other benefit.... my little secret, is I can hook up the second spray bar and on a 115-118 degree day inject a little spray of methanol to cool the charge. It's worth up to 200 rpm on a hot day.

    Yes, it is.

Been running smaller ammounts (75 to 150HP) of it thru Lowrider's 454 for 30 years now.

we need to talk mind if i call ya tonite? i'll give nx a call today and see if i've already got the jet sizes i need to run the shot of nitrous i want in 2 stages on alky. you'd think runnin 110 and enriching with methanol would really put the octane on the fuel way up there.

Tom, from some reseaching, it would be doable to build a pump gas friendly bigblock setup that could cruise on the pumpgas and run a very large shot of NOS while enrichening with alky. Could make serios power and still be a lakeable cruiser. The bottom end would still need to be built to handle the final hp level and the cam and heads would need to be built around the idea of making max hp while on the nos , along with a larger imp. in the pump , but when setup this way this hit from the NOS would be awsome.just my .02
Oh yea, get back to work , lol

Sounds good Chris, i was planning on being out there on Saturday. I just got that Jaz 1.5 gallon cell and it just looked small to me, glad it will work ! I have that Holley reg that comes w/ the Holley blue pump.......but I'm not sure if thats the one to use ???? I was looking at the Aeromotive stuff, thats what i'm running on the motor. Any thoughts on pump/reg combo's for the n20 system ???? Thanks Chris.

    Hi Wayne,

Can't wait to see that bad ass Ford run.

Here is a simplified diagram of the fuel system, this will give you the basics:

When will it hit the water ?

On the small tank in our boat we have run through 40 lbs of Nos on a weekend and had plenty of fuel left over. The systems don't use a ton of fuel, you just need to have a good steady supply to the solenoid.

    Wayne,

On that return line, mine might be a - 2 line. It just needs to be big enough to bleed off pressure. Also, our's runs over the top so it is very short I think I ended up using a braided hose brake line it was pre-made and was the correct size in length and dia.
