    Default 427 tall block Help

I am looking at a 28 sleekcraft with a 427 tall block 650 hp wot only pulls 4500 rpm with a 150 drive and 24 4 blade it has imco exhaust msd ignician with a 6al box. A 1050 dominator carb . I think the carb is to big for startersno info on the cam and the owner does not know how much timing is on the motor. I know that those things are criticle when trying to diagnose this problem just hoping someone else had this happen to them by cahnce and they found out what needed to be fixed it is a long shot but I thiught I would try it anyway. This part is what's holding up the purchase of the boat, He might have the wrong cam shaft for this application he could have washed out the rings with the carb being oversized. It also could be as simple as correcting the tune that is on it right now any help would be appreceated

    Default 28 sleek

just saw that boat on craigslist last night (i think) looks nice, great deal. prob not a big deal, with the engine. could be the wrong prop, or gears in the drive, for the power. change the cam and put a blower on it thats a big boat, its gonna take some big power to move it with a single engine. nice sleek / cole, if its the one i saw.

you need to find out a LOT MORE about the engine. if it is actually a performance engine, I doubt it is only 427 cubes. (if it is actually a talldeck) could be a bunch of variables in this situation. where did the 650
hp estimate come from? the seller? that's a pretty steep rating for a 427!
are there any reciepts? engine specs? dyno sheets? I'd be very wary of
this one. did someone throw a talldeck 427 truck motor in the thing and
keep the motor that was in it? that would explain the 4500 rpm ceiling
to me(can't get much more than that out of a stocker td 427) not cutting down the boat, you just need to get WAY MORE INFO on the engine IMHO! don't know where you are at, but I'm sure your near someone on
the boards here who might be able to look at it for you ....
