    Default Let's talk oil pans

It's time to buy an oil pan for my Brendella jet boat.

    It's sporting a 496 Gen 4 block with 4-bolt conversion (straight bolts).

I know there are tons of choices out there. I have been told that the Milodon pan has been acting funny on the dyno with the longer stroke??

I don't want a Dooley I had a leaking Dooley a few years ago and there service sucks.

So what's out there and the best for the $$$$ and will give me the best oil control?

I just sent Armando a check...I've heard NOTHING but good things about him and his pans.

    Exclamation

I'm running a Hamburger's 10QT pan. It's got the baffles, windage tray, and crank scrapper and it's stroker clearanced up to a 4.500" crank. It was cheap too, $210.00 for the pan and pick-up. I couldn't see spending $400-$600 or more on an oil pan.

not sure. i'm runnin a 12qt pan and its soo deep, i've gotta pull the motor to change the oil. we put a hammburger pan on my uncle's injected 540 and i sure liked it, just haven't herd too much about em in boats.

If I had to buy a pan today it would be the hammburger. A buddy went to the local speed shop here and picked one up for $240 I think. He said it fit great. Have not fired the motor up yet however, but don't anticipate any troubles.

The dooley I am putting on for a guy did not fit well (Hit the rear main cap) and does not sit flat on the block, so we will see how it works here soon enough.

Mudsuckers actually have it pretty good. Since the engine is in backwards (well compared to a race boat) you guys have tons of options, way more than us v-drive guys. When we were running our race car, we've used Hamburger, Moroso comp eliminator style, and Stef's. All were way better and less $$ than the Drooly pan I have on the flat...

And just kidding about the race boat stuff.... we like mudsuckers... we really do

Ohhh.... crap!! Seriously, my bad. You circle guys got us drag racers covered in the stones dept... I've been the rider in a cracker box, most scared I've ever been in a boat (but kinda fun). I only meant to have some fun with the jet guys....
