Default Edelbrock or Holley for BBC?

Which would be better for performance and ease of tuning? 7.4L Merc. Stock engine, manifolds and electronics.

I don't know anything about your application, but holleys have gotta be the simplest to tune. the edelbrock is a vac secondary deal, maybe good for gas mileage I dunno. The only one I ever owned needed to be torn apart every spring.

    Edelbrock on the tow truck.
    Holley on the boat.

Another vote for Holley here. Can get Edel to work but straight across swap and the holley will outperform.

IMO either will work great. More people know about tuning a Holley than Carter AFB or Quadrajet (Edelbrock sells both styles) carburetors combined. So, tuning references, resources, tips, and advice will be much easier to obtain if you choose a Holley. If you ask for tuning advice on an Edelbrock carb, it's likely the first response will be "get rid of it and buy a Holley". It's just that people are familiar with Holley, not that one is better than the other. If you choose a Holley there are many books available in the book store about modifying, customizing, and tuning. If you get an Edelbrock the best tuning info is right on the Edelbrock web site.

Honestly, if you have an Edelbrock, learn to tune it and use it. If you don't have a carburetor, get a Holley.
