Default Anyone know or remember Bob Sebring in Torrance, CA

I used to work at a performance engine shop in Torrance California (So Cal). The owners name was Bob Sebring. He was a bastard to work for, but had done a lot of boating in the 1970's and 80's. Last time I went home for a visit, his shop was closed. Anyone know anything. Does the name ring any bells.

I feel old... I'm pretty sure it was called Performance Center. It was on Hawthorne Blvd., there used to be a Super Shops right down the street from there too. We used to have engines in the window that you could easily see from the street. One of them that always caught my eye was a blown alcohol injected Ford Pinto 4 cylinder, which I was told put out just over 600hp. Most of our business was (at the time) drag cars, but he had at least 15 or 20 signed V-Drive racing pictures on the wall. I figured someone here would remember him.

YES YES!!! That's it. Service Center. Anyone know where Bob ended up? I know he lived in Redondo Beach. It just seems that a guy like that, with his history in the engine building industry, would die before leaving it all behind. The guy was a prick most of the time, but something about him made you like him anyway. I'm hoping someone here knows him, or at least knows what he's up to. Hope he didn't kick the bucket...

Bob, and Service Center are still around. They moved to a new location, in Lomita off of Narbonne Ave. Its a nicer shop, but kind of hidden. If your not looking for it, you would drive right by.

that is Donavan that is on Border and still is, Hot Rod City was on Sepulveda and was the name of the complex, which was the home of Hod Rod Performance, now on Del Amo in Torrance, along with Wilcap that is now in Pismo and 10,000 RPM, now in Lancaster/Palmdale
