    Default Oil Pan

If you have a 10 quart oil pan, does that mean the motor should hold 10 quarts of oil. I put 8 quarts in the motor and the oil level is on the full mark on the dip stick, I have started the motor to fill the oil filter.

No, should be much better off only filling to the mark. The mark should have been checked while the pan was off to verify where it put the level in the pan.
