You need to post that ? in the "Open Water" chat room. Or just go there and look up the post from Kim Hanson from this week.

The short story is that Hot Boat had a hostile take over last year and the people that purchased it didn't like some of the people that posted in the Open Water chat room and some of the subjects " non-boat" related that were there. Instead of spending some time to re-vamp it and warn people to change their posting habits the one or two Nazis that took over as Mods just started banning people.

Some of the people they banned had been posting on Hot Boat for several years. Rex One (from Rex Marine) and others tried in vein to get the new owners to retract some (most) of the banning and they told Rex to stick it. The owner or owners agent had a melt down a banned even more people and ultimately the Web site was shut down with out warning for I believe two months(maybe three).

Many people had all there contact info, phone numbers and email info, pictures and year's worth of tech info on that site and could not retrieve it. Hot Boat's bad timing was to the benefit of this new site and Riverdaves.com web site. The family of people was split up and we ( I was a very new new-comer) found two or three new homes. The split is kind of like when a State puts a freeway through the middle of a neighborhood...it is just never quite the same

    I hope that helps :

    Exclamation

Most of the guys here on PB used to hang out on the HB forums. At the end of last year, when Hot Boat changed hands, they dropped the forums without any warning. Many people lost all their pictures and all of that information over there was thought to be lost. But then, after several months they finally brought it back up, but it was missing a lot of stuff, including the pictures. The new owners handled the situation very badly, with lots of name calling and such. The new moderators censored or deleted any thread started that said anything bad about Hot Boat or the new owners, and banned many people. Basically they took away the people's right of free speech. Which of course, pissed a lot of people off.

Here PB threads are not deleted, they are just sent to Grey Water and locked if they get out of hand. Which threads like this usually do. But, very exciting to read. I was in Grey Water last night reading a lot of the locked threads, and let's just saw it involved a lot of laughing.

I was just over there for a second to see the ghost town it has become, and wow, it's def. a ghost town. They screwed up bad.

Most users ever online was 1,405 on 09-22-2007.

And right now there were 5 members and 20 guests over there. Not as bad as I have seen it, but pretty darn empty.
