    Default Hate and Discontent...

I feel it's time to mix it up a bit...RCL's Manifesto if you will...

So the enduro...makes me sick to be honest..haven't missed one yet and it's one of my families scheduled yearly vacations...it sucks that it's all f'd up...seriously I am sick about it...in order for this race to have any success in 2013...it should have been done long ago...not now...When RD saw the difficulty lying ahead...he should have stepped back and helped Ross with sponsorship and marketing...if that is in fact his area of expertise...go all in for 20% of what you bring to the event...or something of that sort..

Long Beach...off the hook from what reports I got...Kudo's to all involved and all winners...Cucci Cucci and Rank Daddy...two veterans racing for the win...All's fair in love and racing..C'MON guys...the first lap is as important as the lap..as far as I remember it's all Green and Go the second that gun goes off...so those who say it was risky that early does not know what boat racing is in my book...most boat races are decided in the first and second turn...These two are pro's...got laps behind them to prove it..let them work it out either in the pits or on the racetrack or over at the leather exchange...(boxing ring)...Seems to me there is only one team happy at the end of the day..the one carrying the trophy around..

Big Steve and group...I like you all and seem like a great group of guys...but when all was said and done...the race was lost and won by another group..and it was not Ross's fault or anybody else's..accordng to what I read...it was a scoring mistake made by your scorer...if that is correct information..then it is a loss...it doesn't matter when it was discovered...or how or by who...you seem to have admitted the loss on paper but not on anything else...so I scratch my head a little...why the anger?? I'm not looking for an explanation..please..I have read enough finger pointing to last me another couple of days...haha

In the end..we all seem to want to help the fledgling boat racing...but we sure seem to rip it's head off and crap down it's neck hole...

Not looking for explanations...just some guy that's reading this crap that has an opinion...right or wrong..

I have no dog in this fight. But I have to agree with RCL on his thread.
We all have 1 thing in common, boats/racing, why is it that we can't get along for a common love.
It reminds me of CART and INDY CAR from years back. "Let's all fight over something that is so precious to us but in the process we end up destroying that one thing we were fighting over.

I fully agree. The Indy 500 has never been good since IRL decided to hijack it.

This is in no way comparable to IndyCar and IRL...that is HUGE business run by wallets and not what is best for the sport..this here is very small potatoes...which makes it even more important for us as a small group to hang together and work towards our little spot in all this...support the event in some small way...by either volunteering or just going to it and attending...or sponsoring..

I vote that RCL puts on a 3rd Enduro.

    That would settle everything.

I feel about the same as Rattle Can does. It is a shame that the people involved in the Enduro can't get together and make this race happen instead of sitting on the side line bitching about each other. That does nothing but cause hurt feelings and does nothing to get the race on. So how about you guys quit bitching about the other guys and get together and make it happen???

    answer: no protest was filed.

and that is it in a nutshell...simple and final. So, why the do we owe anybody an apology? a Trophy? We offered Al a Co-Championship and he accepted. It's over.

We were told by the race promoter we won on the beach...

We were told we won the "Official" Parker 300 later that evening, and we were presented a trophy

As far as the scorekeeper goes, she made a human error...that's why the promoter has to finalize the results between the beach and the meeting to make the call on who got the win...The scorekeeper is NOT the final call.

Look at the timesheet, its there for all to see. But we didn't see the times for 4+ months.

We busted our asses to make it out to Parker. We had a dilapidated 1984 Cougar and a blown motor to start with.

We sanded and prepped and tested our program until we were solid. We showed up. Unlike most board pussies.

Big Steve, Scarlata, and myself love this race. We are sickened by all the negative energy... We came to the Parker to show positive boating. How you can do it on a shoestring budget...Yeah, the Canoe is a $1700.00 boat and trailer that was throwing down 4 minute laps...Hand built in our garage. We never raced a boat in our lives, but we have been hauling ass for years.

We came to shut a few pie holes as well ....... We formed the Outboard Church to get some juice flowing with Outboards.

We did not want controversy... We just wanted to race.

We feel we are being dragged through the mud ... for what?? Being close enough at the finish that a call was made in our favor??

You mentioned that it wasn't Ross Wallachs fault. It was, it was his race. He admitted that.

You said it doesn't matter how long it was between finding this out and changing the scoring order.

When does that shit end? Do you call back the Superbowl because of "new information" ?? When do you move to the next race and prove it on the field??

That said, who wants to race us in the 336 ? Let's settle the shit on the water, where I don't have to listen to any bullshit except a screaming V-Drive.

We are done talking. It's time to boat. Who has the baddest set up? We will see.

We don't hate anyone, and we are not discontent. WE WANT TO ROLL SOME FAST MILES WITH OUR FRIENDS.

We never admitted to losing. We pulled team 34 up on the podium where it felt like good sportmanship amongst friends.

See you on the line, make sure you have a full tank.

    Positive energy is best. +++

No dog in the fight, and I envy anyone that has their stuff together and gets to race it. However, while there is a time limit to file a protest at a race, there is no time limit on setting the record straight. Does it really matter who's fault a mistake was? Once a mistake is found, it should be rectified. If the mistake involved someone(s) misrepresenting facts (which some would call cheating), then there should not be a time limit in correcting the historical facts or the official race results. After his admission of cheating, did Lance Armstrong get to keep all of those Tour championships? The outcome would have been the same had is cheating been discovered by some other means.

No you can't go back and redo the podium, No you can't recreate the emotion and glory of the moment for the actual winner. But, the historic records can certainly be changed to reflect the actual winner. As for one of your sponsors wanting to sue because you were incorrectly crowned king of the river, that would only hold up if you had knowledge that you were falsely crowned, or had a part in the mistake being made. I don't believe anyone thinks that is the case, nor has anyone made any allegation to that point (that I'm aware of).

There is a lot of work that goes into building up a race. The Enduro has come a long way and is a good race. That isn't to say that it is without problems and that it couldn't be even better. As Bruce pointed out, Safety should be the first and most important consideration. And I would say that Ross had that part down pat. Sponsorship and dealing with the Casino obviously still needed some work. But that is a never ending project for a race promoter. Had he known that there were racers that were denied rooms as a result of the Casino claiming to be full, then he might have been able to get statements and argued the 4 no shows that the casino claimed were the reason for not paying. It really shouldn't surprise anyone that a Casino would find a real or imagined technicality to not pay something.

RCL is right about this whole everyone bashing everyone else involved in this race deal, not being good for the sport as a whole. And all the while they do it, each of them claim to have the best interest of racing in their hearts. The canoe crew has been well documented as being promoters of the sport of boat racing and helping others enjoy the sport. Would you all really want this to be the legacy of such a fine effort?

Regardless of if there is or isn't an Enduro this year, the racers should take the racing that is embedded in their hearts on hold for a second or two and engage their brains before they help the sport right into extinction.

As for Ross and RD, they have their reasons for their feelings. Ross obviously considers the race to be his baby. It would be like someone finding a way to manipulate a legality allowing them to race your boat instead of you, after all your hard work to make it a contender.

This years race is like a soup sandwich. It is a mess. It's spilling in to places it should never be. And while a few may like the result, most will wonder why it was done in the first place.
So many projects, so little time

Bummer. Makes me glad I don't have a boat to race in this event. I'd be pissed. A lot of time and money waisted because of egos (not waffles).
Now I'm hungry for waffles! Thanks a lot.
