I am in the process of restoring a '76 19' Sleekcraft that has a Jacuzzi 12WJ drive. I plan on building a twin turbo 468 that should put out between 700-800 HP. Am I wasting my time with the Jacuzzi, or can it be built up to be an efficient pump? Does anyone make stainless impellers for them? I just had a new transom glassed in and the hole has not yet been cut for the drive, the only hole is the suction opening in the bottom of the hull. Would it be wise to get a better pump now, or am I stuck with the Jacuzzi because of the suction opening? Any and all input would greatly be appreciated.
