    Default flooding, rich 468 BBC

    Greg,
I have a 21' open bow Hawaiian with a 468 BBC, brodix heads, Victor jr 454-R, roller cam 600" lift, MSD with an Accel coil, lightning headers, Dminator 12-TD pump.
She pulls 5800rpm @ 71-73mph. At an idle I get a lot of miss firing, popping and flooding. Once you get it above 1500rpm for 10-15sec she cleans up and runs good from there. When I slow down to stop smell a lot of fuel, with the occasional diesel. The carb is a 750 Holley, 4 corner idle, no choke, no power vavles, blocked, 88 jets front and rear. I tried power vavles and smaller jets and I had to floor the thing to get it on plane!
Any help would be oppreciated. Thanks

    Default 21

Have you checked float level and fuel pressure? Ho about something stuck in the needle and seat.

The fuel pressure is 5 1/2 psi (elec pump), floates are correct just below float screw window, does not boil over or leak from vent tubes. Plugs appear fowled... running NGK 8 Vpower plugs, gapped at .050. Should I try a differant plug or heat range?

    Default Carb

If fuel pressure is good, float level is correct my next move would be to close the plug gap down to .032 and see if that helps clean up the idle. Have you checked voltage to the coil?
