Default Bought a Caribbean Jet Boat

Ok so I am very new to boats and the boating scene. But I came here to look for some insight from you veterans out there. So I bought this Caribbean Jetboat by Hardin Marine. I Have no idea what model or anything like that. I know it has a 454 and the motor is about the only thing I know how to work on. I deal mostly with cars LS1, LS2, etc. Now here is a picture of the boat. It's obviously original and it really good condition for its time. I bought it off my dads nurses bf who is basically broke so to help him out and thinking I was getting a good deal, I bought it.

So any info on the boat/year/ etc would be great. Got it for $2800 with the trailer. Just needs a new battery and slight tune up and it'll run. Going to replace the plugs, change oil, battery and misc things and then start her.

In the photos it looks very clean, this is often good insight in to the general condition of the boat otherwize if it starts runs and feels/sounds good the price seems reasonable Good Luck and Welcome to Jet boats Tom

    NICE boat man!
    Here's mine..

It's almost impossible to find info on the Caribbeans but the boat is essentialy the same as a Spectra19. From what's I've gathered I've been told that it's a really nice hull for lake duty and beating on. Does yours have full length quad stringers too?

here's a thread that I started back when I first brought mine home. I thought my Hardin Marine Caribbean was a Tahiti?????

Oh yeah, that pink pinstripe all over the boat is actually a very nice looking red. All you need is some fine grit paper, some compounds and about 10,000 hours rubbing on the paint!

In my experiences with buying used boats, start from the bottom up. Give the trailer a real good inspection. Most sellers don't give you info on the trailer. Check everything on it. Wheel bearings and lugs should be first. Inspect the leaf spring assemblys for any worn bushings or shackles. Look for cracks on the trailer. Also, make sure the bunks are in good shape. If seen too many nice boats get destroyed due to trailer problems.

Looks identical to the Spectra 19 I just picked up. Including the engine cover.

I made it like that. My boat had seats like yours but I never got to see them. My old boss bought it off ebay from Michigan and had it brought down here (had CA numbers on it. That boat's been around).
The interior got ripped out before I got to see it. My old boss posted pics from the auction on hotboat and one of the replies was "looks like the dude that did the interior was on shrooms". Wish I could have seen it!
Those seats were installed at a temporary measure until I could build some new ones. That shot was taken when I first got her home.
