    Default Jetaway removal

    OK, how does this Jetaway come off. I see a snap ring on the shaft, 8 allen head bolts and some countersunk allen plugs under the collar. I want to make sure I don't disassemble it, just remove it. Thanks!

    Should be just the 8 counter sunk bolts that hold it on.

    There are 8 bolts on the outside that are not countersunk, they are 1" long. I am thinking that you have to remove them and the snap ring to get to the 8 countersunk bolts.
    I just don't want springs and clutches flying everywhere.

    Negitive the snap ring does not need to come off to remove the jet-a-way. there should be 8 holes inbetween the allen head bolts on the front. with a long allen wrench inset into holes. thats where the bolts are holding it on to the suction housing.

    Note: if it was installed without doubledrilling there will be only 4 bolts.

    Put a few grease rags under the Jetaway to catch the oil. Be sure to shift the Jetaway into DRIVE before removal as damage could result if not done that way. Then get a long 1/4" allen head socket and remove the 8 bolts in the holes between the cap bolts that you see. If you have questions, please call; 417-858-8616.

    I've been following your threads, I cringe everytime you talk about removing your ratchet! You do not know what a convenience they are for tuning your motor, safety on the water, etc. You are taking something off that others beg for. I think ur gonna miss it, I'd cut the driveshaft or sacrafice interior space since ur running the blower motor, and keep it, just my .02. Really diggin ur project tho! Keep the pics comin

    Ok, you guys talked me into it. Rather than have a new driveshaft made I'm just going to keep the Jetaway. I wanted the motor a little closer to the transom
    for "backseat space" but I've decided to keep the distance to the transom at 22" as that where it was originally. I read here that 22" seems to be optimal.

    I am reinstalling the Jetaway and was wondering if anyone new how much oil and what flavor to add back in it. I assume that the oil is added thru the two allen
    plugs in the top once it is neutral. Thanks again.

    There have been some long discussions on the board about what lube to use in the jetaway. The best thing to do is get the formulation that was designed for the unit from Duane at HTP. BTW, i think you are making the right choice putting the jetaway and shaft back in. You will have a better boating experience. It is no fun when the boat acts up. And yes on the side fill point.

    Do this. Plastic paint tray liner. Notch it around the pump/bearing cap.
