Default What is the purpose of the covers O/T headers?

Just switched from thru transom to over transom.
What are the covers over the outlets when not in use for?

Keeps things out when not in use. Keeping birds, wasps, and other things from building nests in them. That and they look cool.

Could also help to keep stuff out of the cylinders If there is an exhaust valve open when you shut the boat off.

I was thinking of getting some but I'm afraid they may get stolen if I stop at a restaurant or something and park the boat where I can't watch it.

Had them on my Rogers. Never had a problem but it would be easy to steal them I guess

    For instance...

All winter I kept firing rat poison into my garage...when I started the boat...all that rat poison came shooting out of the headers.

We don't have those 4 into 1's but just four holes on each side...we use WD40 plastic lids...it ain't fancy but keeps junk out.
