    Default top mount starter?

    i had a top mount starter i thought was good it wont even turn the motor over does anyone know a shop that can rebuild starters in riverside area? or where is the cheapest place to buy a new top mouint starter?

    Many of the older top mounts cost more to repair or rebuild than to replace with a greater dependability factor on the replacement ... Tom

    mine cost me $165 to have rebuilt by a local shop

    I will 'respectfully' say...it depends on the starter.
    If you have this BEAST of a starter as I do (top mount, reverse-spin) for a 3-point mount...GS Marine told me to keep it as long as I can.
    It's HEAVY but a veeeeeery reliable monster of a starter. EASY to rebuild too!

    I had mine rebuilt a couple of time before I said hell with it and bought a Hi-Torq from JBP. Well worth it IMO. I probably spent as much repairing it than I did buying the Hi-Torq.
