Don't be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the Ark...Professionals built the Titanic!

Hey Rob, Gary and Steve, Always good to see you guys. Yes TN, I added the wing a couple of weeks ago. I had the boat running pretty well last year, but was headed in a dangerous direction on my hardware. So, I did a wholesale change in a different direction. Different shoe, loader, angles, nozzle size, etc. Just about changed everything. I am committed to make this work and also wanted to add an additional degree of safety, so I added the wing too.

With so many changes, my initial performance was off, which was not surprising, but not wanted. So, we went to work on adjusting the harware and within three passes picked the boat up three tenths and that was with the wing. There are a couple of changes I could have made that would have picked up the performance right now, that are not the correct changes for the long term program. My last pass would have indicated the quickest for the weekend, but when I was running down that outboard in second chance, I was reeling him in an grabbed the wheel hard and leaned forward in the boat and when I grabbed the wheel my hand bumped the popoff between 800 and 1000 ft. My increments were the quickest of the weekend up to the 1000 ft. then she slowed down a few mph and still went through with an 8.40. Old...Rookie driver!!!

We made a couple of blunder runs..... scoop plug still in and wrong direction on the carb setting.... but I had been wondering which way to go. So that was good to know too. All in all a good weekend. I went to learn and hoped to go a few rounds, but the main goal was testing.

    Gear

BTW, when I was chasing the guy down and accidently hit the popoff, I did not realize the popoff was activated. I did feel the tail of the boat skating and my first thought was "Hey, I'm really starting to feel this thing! And I need some more shoe cause this thing is not pulling all the way through!" Then I find out is was skating and not pulling because all my loading water pressure was going out the top! Rookie!

Love the addtion of the wing, and I think them lemons really set the boat off! I wanna set for my new boat.....may come next winter tho! hang in there Gear, i have left the scoop plug on til i turned around pulling myself out on the rope, and noticed it in time, i forgot to hook the carb cable back to the throttle bracket at SITC a couple years ago, and noticed it just in time. I think the best is when Chop was yelling at Megan who was on the rope beside me telling her that he forgot to engage the jetaway after warm up. It happens to us all, you have a nice piece, and i am sure we havent even come close to seeing the full potential of this beast!

You are right Josh I remember it well, things are easy missed, i have stood on that dock several times or over on the back across headed to out ramp, run down to the water and pass info across to Magan and Rusty on the holding rope.
Gear has a plan you can bet..
Josh your boat is SHARP and looks really great, you have taken pride in your build. Looking foward to seeing it in person.
