Thanks to all the help from everyone on the performanceboats.com forum I finally got the nerve up to start working on our new TX-19 jet boat. I was really lost until I stumbled upon the site and meet some very nice people who were willing to give a greenhorn a little guidance. I got the driveline unhooked from the pump and then it was on to trying to crank the 454 BB. I stopped and got a new battery tonight along with some fresh non ethanol gas and thought what the heck lets try. Checked the oil and it looked good and was full, so here we go! Turned the key on and heard that the fuel pump was running. Tried to turn the key to turn the motor over and nothing. Just saw the volt guage spike over to about 16v but nothing from the starter or motor. Scratched my head a few times and tried again with nothing happening when I turned the key. I had noticed last night that there was some sort of button hooked directly to the starter in the back. I walked back there and pressed the button and the starter engaged and turned the motor over. Went back to the switch and turned it on, pumped the gas a bit a stretched back and pressed the button again an she tried to start. Pumped the gas again and tried the button and she started right up. I let it run about 20 seconds and shut it off. Waited about 40 min and tried it again. I tried to take a video this time, but the camera kept falling over. Here it is, but you will be looking at the boat cover and the sky part of the time…LOL. It was so nice to hear the engine start!!! Now I know this project is worth moving forward on. I am working on a parts list before I can even think about hitting the water. I need a new throttle cable, new reverse cable, and maybe a new switch (never could figure out what was up with that) . I went back about 40 minutes later after the 2nd start and tried the key again and it worked at first, but then nothing. I still got a ways to go, but I am on my way!!!!!
