    Default advancing stock cam?

    good idea?
    benefits, downsides indifference?

    what does advancing the cam a few deg do?

    its already advanced some don't know how much, i didn't do it the last mechanic did.
    runs good. just poor idle...

    i know some aftermarket cams want you to install them with some adv. why?

    Depends on what you are wanting to do. By advancing or retarding you can change where you max power and torque are at. If you advance the cam say 4* you will develop more power at a lower rpm. Retard it and normally you will see a high rpm increase. You must be sure to check valve to piston clearance as well. That is the short of it.

    ok.
    poor idle (lopes from 500-100) shouldn't be caused by an advanced cam.
    everything else is stock.
    runs good does about 60 in an 18 ft.
