    Default Pickle Fork Hydro Jet?

I am going to look at a Pickle Fork Hydro Jet with no engine today after work. What are the goods and the bads about these boats? It has bucket seats and a rear bench seat. I am only interested in a quick Lake Boat/Playtoy... I will try and get pictures...

Daytonas are tunnels. I jet hydro looks just like a v-drive hydro, but with a jet.

There was one at Apache a couple years ago with a badass Blown BBC, cool looking boat... but slow, as in there is something seriously wrong with that deal slow.

I didn't notice that. I only saw him out once. I think he had a new motor in it on Fathers Day.

I ran across one when i was out playin in mine..v-drive...
Hydro is bass ackwards from other boats...The bow stays down....barely and the faster you go the more air packs under the boat lifting the stern up...wrong direction for a system that needs water to function. Mine starts packing air at about 70...doesn't blow the tail but the back of the boat is on top of the water. Easy to tell the boat goes from hang on tight to a pretty smooth ride.

Running the motor that far back is a jet deal too...helps keep the stern down. Basic hydro design with a jet will reach it's speed limit when enough air gets under the boat to overcome the weight and the only way around it is a tunnel on both sides....which gets you a pickle fork tunnel bottom instead of pickle fork hydro...Seems like about 80-85 is all one might expect for a jet...more hp will will get more acceleration.
At least a jet has back seats! lol

You have a center keel in the water when you're running which includes the intake. The concept of a hydro would lift most of the boat to the transom out of the water which would include the intake on a normal hydro. You'd have to drag ass in a jet hydro to keep the intake in the water which would defeat the purpose I would guess. But then again I'm just a garage hack.

That explains why the thing was trailered most of Saturday.
