    Default Me and Ervin Capps

Not the first time ive met him but it is the first time i spent a couple days with him working side by side learning how to laminate. Man does he work hard and get around like a 25year old. Haha...He did the bottom on my TX20 and I had him come to my shop this week and do some extra stuff to help with my shut down. Ervin is a stand up Guy and a great teacher. I thoroughly enjoyed our time together and snagged me a pic of the Ole man! Ervin I hope you enjoyed seeing one of your condor tx-18's and your work is awesome!! Thanks for the time and work!!!

Good man & a good friend. I've known him for a long time and he is an artist. He has something that you cant just "give" to the next apprentice. Ambition and a will to make things perfect.

(a repost, but thought it belonged here; summer 2012 'Jacks Feast')

I was schooled by Mr. Capps par excellence...about pumps he answered by example two long standing questions i had, gave me a theory i had not thought of and reinforced one long standing supposition about what is actually going on 'down there'.

Told me things about layup and materials that i would have never known, as well as some history...what a gentleman.

The black one looks like my old Condor. Way cool boat. Got up and went, handled like a dream and last month when I sold it was still a beautiful boat with not one stress crack on it.

Actually read who was standing in the picture. Seeing as that is Dan that was my old boat

I've known and done business with Ervin Capps for a little over 35 years now. He built the boat I took my first National Championship in; Mellow Yellow, (1979). It was a 1979 Condor Sprint. I must say, "It has been a grand trip through the years knowing and working with Ervin". He knows more about how to build, rig, repair and restore boats than anyone I know. He is a true fiberglass/gel coat artist and a great friend.
