Default new boat and new to the forum

So I ve been lurking on the forum for some time and finally bit the bullet and bought a jet boat. Its a 1978 Hallett with 460 ford motor with dual holly 600's (i think, I have to check the numbers), and berkeley pump. I havent played with jets for about 20 years so I am a little rusty on everything and will definately have questions for everyone. The boat is very clean and runs good. I havent had it in the water yet. first trip is to the housebout for a week on Lake Don Pedro next week here in California. I went through the motor and did all the maitanence items, changed oil, plugs, cap & rotor, checked the water lines etc. all seems go to go (hopefully).

    Here are some pics

Nice looking boat. Maybe I'll see you out at CFW in the summer or Folsom in the winter.

Nice to see a Hallett Sprint, not a very common boat. Most 70's Halletts around here are Bubble Decks.

Thanks guys, ya I was very impressed with how nice this hull is, it was very well cared for. I took a look at the loader when I bought it and it looked pretty good, not beat up. Is there anything specific I should be looking for??

Please go through this thread...I am not a jet boat person....and v-drives don't have loaders...so this is the best I can do for you. Also Infomaniac Ron can prolly help you out with direct questions.

So the week on the houseboat went pretty well. I had to replace the alternator and some fuel line fittings during the week but other than that the boat ran pretty good. I dont know much about the motor specs other than my description in the first post, so not sure what the max rpm should be. It has a ton of torque and gets on plane right away. With 3 adults in the boat it easily gets to 5k rpm and is running low 50mph range. With two adults pedal to the floor 5200 rpm, I forgot to bring the GPS on that run but didnt feel to much faster maybe mid 50's, does that seem about right? I am not sure what impeller it has, is there a marking on the impeller anywhere to tell what it is?? I kept the max to 4800 most of the week just to be on the safe side. Man I forgot how much fun these boats are!!!!

A few other things about the motor. Its a Hardin Marine built 460, stock D3VE heads, two Holly 4160 600cfm carbs, affenhouser high rise manifold, bassett headers and an Accel distributor with points. Unfortunately I have no idea if any internal modifications have been done to it.

I have an older aluminum loader that was in my boat when I purchased I have inspected several times and never found a problem. Any one familiar with these loaders. Seems all I see on here are steel loaders and rusted ones. I know Duane has seen it since it was still in the intake when I sent it to him to have a shoe and plate installed. I can't find any info about it
