    Default MSD rev limit ?

in my 514 BBF I just had my MSD pro-billet dist rebuilt by MSD an they upgraded it with built in rev limiter. I have 6al box, a blaster SS coil, and 8350 dist with is locked out. My question is shld i keep the 6AL box an use the rev limit from it, or remove box an use rev limit from dist? Thanx

The box is more than just a rev limiter. That distributor won't work without the box

It's a ready to run dist, an does run without box. I added the box many years ago for the rev limit. When I put box in I had engine run on, and had to add a balist resistor per MSD tech support. That worked great, but I'm wanting to remove some of the unnecessary wires and make it look cleaner

Two things. First, you did add a ballast to stop the run on, you added a diode.
Second, if you were runnig the box on a ready to run dizzy so that you had a rev limiter, you were also using the the box as an ignition and the "ready to run" part of you dizzy was not being used. You were only using the pickup in the dizzy. You cannot use JUST the rev limiter in the box, because the limiter limits the box not the dizzy.
Nothing wrong with using a "ready to run" to trigger a 6AL. Its done all the time and it allows you to switch to the "ready to run" in the event the box fails. But if your running the box as a limiter, your using the whole box, not just the limiter.

I would wire it to run the box and use the dizzy's ready to run as a backup.
