I'd been an Olds guy for 30 years before finally making the switch to the bow-tie club a couple of years ago. I found Motorbooks "How to Build & Modify Chevrolet Big-Block V-8 Engines" (Tom Currao) helpful for somebody that didn't know anything about BBC's. The book's a bit dated, but I thought it was pretty complete. N/A only.

There is an upper and lower engine assembly book and both are good.

Reher Morrison books are very good IMO. I read this one cover to cover like most of my build books. This one is like a text book with chapter questions at the end of each chapter. You can see if you're understanding all the info they're giving.

I also have the "How to Build a BBC" that's a good book but is a bit dated as previously stated.

If you have the basics out of the way (and messing with BBCs) Vizards new book, "Max Performance chevy Big Blocks on a Buget" is a pretty good read. There's a few things I wish he would have went more into detail about but overall I like it.
