So got the new hallett out last week for the first time since buying it a couple weeks ago. So the motor ran pretty good BBF with 2 holly 600's. So i noticed at higher rpms iam getting quite a bit of oil blow by coming out of one of the valve cover breathers, is this normal? Also we went for a evening drive and i noticed in the dark that at the base of the headers from the block to the water injectors the headers glow a dull orange cant see it during daylight. I kept it right at 3000 rpms and the engine temp was 130. Is this normal?? I have never had headers on a boat before.
They always get red hot between the head and the point at where the water is injected. But, cruise it for 2 miles, shut it off and check the plugs for lean condition right there, ( do not idle it, do not go to the trailer or bank to check them. Once you've done that, the reading will not be accurate). Read the plugs right there and they will give you the answer you want to know.
