Ugh, one of my biggest fears owning a Jet .
I have cracked 2 right there. mine was from over charging the pump with real aggresive hardware hanging down.
replace it. Next one i crack im going to a dominator suction housing.

I bet cavitation. That's what happened to mine. You will have more problems then that crack if you fix it.
I'm pretty sure cavitation caused this to happen to mine. Took a blown alcohol 540 from ~7k rpms to 0 before I new what happened. No bueno for sure.
water was smooth. and wasn't cavitating at all. bought pump used and crack wasn't there had out twice then this happened.
They only take so many pressure cycles, then the above can happen. They were not perfect castings back when, and there are some out there with pretty bad core shift, thin walls. The new Dominator suctions are superior to the OEM Berkeleys.
