    Default rogers HIN location??

looking at getting a rogers but there is no HIN on the back of the boat. were they stamped onto a plate and fastened onto the boat, or were they directly stamped into the boat?

the game and fish guy says stay away from it since it may have issues with no numbers. but aside from that the boat seems to be in decent shape. there is no mfg tag on it but there is no mistaken the shape of these boats. i was told it was a 78 but would like to know where to sand if its under some bondo and not tear into the whole star side with the flap wheel.

if anyone knows where to start and what to look for that would be greatly appreciated

All the same. If you need paper & plate, and not worried about branding? Can maybe help you out.

Red box is where mine is located, top right hand corner. Stamped directly in the hull. 79 Rogers.

im not worried about branding. someone along the way may or may not have it as a 1979 cheetah. its been under this id for a while, but i dont want the cops to give me rif raf if one of them actually knows boats. also does it matter on paper to a rogers enthusiast later when i resale it?

So many splashes of quality boats out there, nobody would know if your hull is a Cheata or a Rogers. Would there really be much of a price difference between the two brands, if the performance or results were there. Probably not measureable, with typical value of small hot rod boats.

sounds good enough to me. i didnt think of that.

also i bet the value difference isnt measurable since it will come down to if i can find a guy with cash and the same style as i build the boat for. it will basically come down to the same stats as everything else i build as resell value is concerned. if i can find a guy with the same style and size as me, i can sell him my custom suit if he has cash. until then, ill just wear it and look great doing it.

thanks for the replies guys. this will ease my mind from what AZ GFD man said.

'late 72 and later will have the numbers on the right hand side of the transom. This goes for all boats not just Rogers. Before that it was anyone's guess and each had their own numbering system stamped onto the ID plates...if they even used ID plates.

The numbers aren't stamped into the hull, they're molded in. Little stamping gun stamps the numbers into a piece of tape, that tape is stuck to the mold before the gel is blown in. Some put the numbers into the inside of the gunwales too trying to make it harder to steal a boat and doctor the numbers. It didn't work.
