If you are in the 80mph range and no set back and other, what kind of power are You running? I could not afford a dyno session but the engine should be in the 700-710 range?
Tator You guys should keep posting up progress on your projects. I love to read those build threads.
Hey Hal, I also am running an AA impeller & turning it around 5200. I'm running a stock rock grate w/
a Snoot from Duane w/ 6 deg up wedge & a diverter. I'm around 550 or so HP. Can't wait for winter, I'm going to go to a B impeller & probably throw more cam at it...I love the way these Kona's run....
BTW, what are you turning that AA??? I'm betting that thing will FLY with your HP & a B impeller!!!

Konajet74 i was seeing around 5100-5200 but the water was real rough and I was having to lift alot. I guess I felt like I should be turning a little more rpm , but not real sure.

    Default Friday August 26/ 2011

Went to out to lake mead friday afternoon to do some testing and tuneing to get the timming dialed in.
It was a great day , the water was nice and smooth. Took a spin out to sandy cove, floated around a bit, took a little dip, the sunset was perfect.
Got back to the dock, loaded up and headed out back to the house, then tradgedy struck! http://www.performanceboats.com/jet-...int-heart.html

    Default Kona 73

Hal Hope things are will with you I saw your thread and have a question, did they make different models of the Kona? I have two 72 Kona hauls and they are diff. One has 3/4 wood on the transom and the other has one inch and the fiber class is thicker on the one. I'am all ready in to the lighter boat got the heavier boat with a tandem axil trailer later on. I'am doing all the wood in the boat. Not changing anything for the jet going back in the same hole and taking bottom wood out too. Thank you Rog.

Yes they did make two different modles of the 18'-19' ski boat hulls, and also a 21' day cruiser.
The two styles of the ski boat were the one like mine, which I call the Tiger,( I have never really found an official name) only because it is an exact splash of a Tahiti Tiger.
The other model was a bubble deck version, called the Makai. It was the same bottom ,with a different deck. The front dash was a bubble deck and the raised rail/ splash gaurd ( for lack of a better word) was straight, all the way around, unlike mine which had the hump about mid way back.
I dont know which hull you have, but if it is a Kona and not a Tahiti it should have full length stringers.
As far as the transom wood, mine had 3/4", which is standard for a jet. If the transom is thicker wood with thicker glass, it may have originally been built as an out board and converted to a jet, either from the factory or a previous owner. There were quite a few whackers built in this hull also.
On the one with the thicker transom, is the gussets that tie the transom to the stringers?
Post up a picture os Your hulls and I may be able to help you ID which hull s You have. The picture of mine is the one I call the Tiger, and the pic below is a Kona Makai buble deck.
