Default Tuesday night at Lucky Peak...

Please read about next Tuesday night...all boater who attend..this is posted on V-Drives also..

Our boats are not as cool as we think they are...I lived the heyday for these boats..thumbs up everywhere you drove them...but not today..they don't even "get us" anymore...we are an annoyance to most..

We need to be model boaters..period..sober..law abiding and curteous(sp) on the ramp and anywhere else we go on the lake. We need "no wake"in the no wake zone..period. We need to walk, not drive our boats down between the docks..or paddle them...we need to quit "grandstanding" in front of our beach...we have to stay off at least 100 ft from any other boats...or slow down when we are in the narrows..

So next Tuesday night...I think we need to take a night off..no question if your boat does not meet the noise laws...don't go. Let Tony and I meet with the Sheriff next week and try to put down some rules that they want us to abide by...

Then we are going to meet as a group..Pizza or something like that...then we're having a "coming to Jesus" meeting with the Sheriff and see if we can continue to have our fun..

If we do get to continue...there will be more policing by a larger group of guys...and if you are found to be guilty of something that does not further our cause...you will be voted off the island..period.

Tony and I met with LE yesterday for over an hour...things went relatively well...Tony got his ass chewin and then we went on to business...so here is the long and the short of it...and I want to be precise in my comments...

If we have any chance of holding onto this..the following rules are to be followed with no exceptions...

We will not go into any "no wake areas" with a wake..no wake means no wake...and please do not give me..."well, he did it"...

We will not run our boats down through the docks if there are people on the dock waiting for either exit or launch...no exceptions. So be prepared to paddle it or the other option is to start and stop it...as to not push anybody out of turn at the ramp or to cause them have to hold onto their boats from hitting docks...

We will not make passes close to the beach to show everybody how fast we are...if you want to make a pass there...then come early to the lake...I try to go about 3 and you have a couple of nice hours without excess boat pressure..

You will not make a pass close to any occupied dock...if you see boat tied up there...stay away form it...do not give any reason to anybody to complain about us...period..

When you are approaching a boat with a skier down and a flag up...leave excessive room around you and that boat...I have a habit from the old days...I raise my arm in the air letting them know that I see them...and the downed person in the water...remember..we scare the hell out of most boaters today...

The reality to all of this is "COMMON SENSE"...we are the intruders as much as some of you don't want to believe it..we are...

So please put your best foot forward and use your head...I even tell people around me at the dock with my super big 350 chevy..if there are kids around or a family swimming by the dock.."Hey, I'm going to start up the boat now"...and they still jump...be courteous ...that's all I ask..

And here's another thing...they want me to formalize this group...and I'm not so sure I want that...I don't know that I have it in me to try to tell people how to act at the lake...I go for the same reason you all go...to have fun with like minded people..so the day that I have to argue with some butthole over how he is representing us...I don't know that I can do it...but I am going to give it one more shot with help from you guys...

I keep thinking of things...beer cans...put them in your cooler...not setting them as trophies next to your cooler...

I also want to refresh your memory on law...LE has the right to stop you on the waterway at anytime..without probable cause...the also have the right to board your craft at anytime, anywhere on the water...it's the law.

And if I hear one more time from anybody in our group that "Tuesday night doesn't really have any rules...you will be asked to not attend any more of our nights at the lake...and I have heard this...

In the end...for the last time...the only concession being handed to us for our Tuesday nights is a noise allowance...that is all...all other laws and unwritten law..(meaning if the officer says we don't do that)...are to be adhered to..adhered to, almost to a fault...

    thanks for reading............Mike

What an absolute shame. Can't understand why you have to be put into this position.
I feel for you RCL, just takes a couple of inconsiderate ass's to ruin a good thing.
Hope you're able to keep your thing going.
Maybe the ones voted off the island can go out on Wednesday or Thursday nights. That way the local LE can focus all their attention on them.

Damn man, About everything you wrote there should be considered common courtesy and common sense regardless of what kind of boat you have or where you boat. Is common courtesy that un-common anymore?

It will work out one way or another. Our small little group has quickly grown and some of these guys just simply don't have the experience that some of us just assume they do. We are going to have to self police the activities and possibly vote folks off the island if it comes to that. (I hope not) As Mike has said - our boats just aren't cool to the general public anymore and we are going to have to be on our best behavior to avoid any complaints from the general public to be able to continue. Going to the lake fifteen minutes from home is an absolute priviledge that I have had the opportunity to do much of my life and now my daughter gets to come along with her boat. We will do whatever it takes to continue our Tuesday night gig.
