    Default acceleration problem

So I have a 1969 Schuster Jet boat with a 327 chevy and a Jacuzzi jet. The problem is I get up to about 5mph and then no matter how much throttle I give it I go nowhere. So far I have replaced the fuel filter and taken the rope out of the pump that the pump sucked up by the previous owner. Once I did that the boat ran good for about five minutes until I let off on the throttle and now I can barely get above idle. Once I pulled it out of the water today I replaced the vacuum plugs on the carb and hoping that this will fix the issue. Does anyone possibly have any other ideas of what this might be? If the vacuum plugs don't work I'm stuck on what else to do besides a tune-up which is definetely getting done since I just bought the boat. All help is appreciated.

Does the engine actually rev up when you give it throttle?
If the engine revs up and the boat goes nowhere then the impeller is damaged.

If the engine wont rev up then disconnect the drive line and see if the pump turns freely.
If so, then you are back to engine diagnostics.
    Fuel, ignition, etc.

Try running the engine with the pump disconnected?

Damn.....credible diagnostics! Pretty good for a guy who drills crooked holes for a living

To bad its so hard to get decent audio with a vid clip....Fixing things on line could be as simple as go-pro and bose headphones

Hey guys thanks for the tips.
I removed the pump by opening the inspection plate and unwrapping the rope and then I put the inspection plate back on. As for the revving up I believe it is the engine. I can get it to rev only up until about 2000 rpm and then no matter how much gas you give it it won't rev further. It sounds as though the throttle gets opened more and it bogs down. In about an hour I'm going to be on the water with it again with a friend that might be able to help me. I will post what was wrong if we fix it and if not attempt to explain the problem more indepth.
