I know there is a paint fiberglass page here but I figured this would get a faster answer here. I have a scoop I want to put on my boat but it needs a bit of fiberglass repair and prep for paint. The holes on top need a bit of attention. The paint is quite thick about 1/32" and spiderweb cracking.
Can I just chip off the loose stuff and then sand everything down a bit and repair the holes with mat and resin? Can the mat and resin be overlaid on the old paint then sanded smooth? I want to paint this flat black. Pics in next post. Thanks guys.
hey josh the scoop is gellcoat not paint, thats why so thick. i think phil still has some left we can touch it up or get some stripper and start over. the scoop is plastic not glass. we can can plastic weld the holes . give a call and we'll get it fixed
