Default 74 Tahiti 455 olds new owner looking for advice help

I have always wanted to own a Tahiti and finally I got my chance. I drove from WA to pick it up in California and bought it from a crazy crackhead guy who needed money. Long story short I got a boat from a guy who didn't know crap about anything in life. He traded it for weed before me owned it for less than a year and never changed the oil and managed to drill holes into floor installing gross speaker boxes. Where I live Tahiti boats are from and few and I have no help in this matter and would love any help and feedback to basic and fundamental skills for this marine craft.

I have changed the oil which was 12 quarts last week
in the process of reinstalling the boats front seats
installing speakers in front hopefully if I find a proper way
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Help, with what? Fire it up and go..... I have a 74 Tahiti w/455 and Berkley.. It has been bulletproof, and for sale. The volume control for the stereo is under my right foot, and the speakers are out the back.... Don't expect the Olds to rev like a SBC, but they are torque monsters and work very well in their own way.... Mine ran 54 MPH with a Holley 800, and runs faster, 57 mph w/ a vac secondary 750. If yours has the original 650 Q jet carb that's OK too, they can be made to work very well also..... Keep an eye on your oil pressure until you're sure the system works well.... I really need more info before I go much further.... Pasco, we raced at Tri Cities back in the early 90s....Beautiful venue just down river from the bridge....

I have sound in my boat but you cant hear it while your running, its nice for sitting on the beach but I have run the battery down too far and had to be jumped. IMO loose the speakers, I took mine out last year and someone else on the beach runs theirs, better for me and my equipment. as for the boat, take it out and run it. you will find little things to fix and go about it as they happen

The guy before me i noticed he drilled a hole completely thru and now i need to repair i just want to install the speakers i have in boxes wihtout making the smale mistake preferably on the underneath on each side of the 2 front seats. The seats also need to be remounted to the boat since they were installed by a retard. oil pressure is fine and i will be installing a new bilge pump hopefully tonight. The engine sounds good but i noticed on a quick test run at the river the boat felt a little rough for a brief second.

I will eventually find a diverter for the boat but thats on the last of my list. What would a complete set up cost roughly? I only want the stereo for floating and on the beach and will install a second battery for it just to be sure.
