Or you can use the cig adapter.

not sure which models are waterproof but mine has setting for car, marine, walking or motorcycles

BTW if your old one was over 5 years old, the new one will update lots faster,

I have the same and have run it for two years. Works great. Very good price It includes the receiver. Just as accurate as a hand held and the quick acquisition feature is nice.

I use my Smartphone. I have put it up against several dedicated units (including the IFR cert. GPS unit in my Mooney) and it's right on.

I use both the Ulysse app; and a I also have an XGPS150 that links to the phone (Android, iPhone, iPad) via bluetooth and has an app specifically for it (see it here: http://xgps150.dualav.com/). Both work very well.

Garmin 76csx on sale now at West Marine for $175.00 or so. Waterproof, floats, mil-spec. It's a close out so get one soon. Unbelieveable unit.

    Update:
so my boat seat cushion flipped up last week and out went my Garmin hand held so I went shopping for a new one , low and behold I found New Etrex Vista (an upgrade from my prior) several places including Bass Pro (great folks) but then an internet "review" search came up for a different very large online retailer for a unit at considerably less (30 bucks) so I ordered it and it arrived "timely" , Excited to see it I opened the box first noticing that the box did not have a seal and then that the unit already had batteries ?? then out of the booklet drops a CC purchase reciept from 2001 by a customer who had purchased this from yet another diffferent large retailer in 2001 , so like many large entities you cant simply call or get a quick response so after a half hour of trying to find the appropriate customer service discussion method (no phone to call) generic email complaint form only , anyhow they have now contacted me via email and are trying to negotiate a resolution, its notsomuch that the unit is not actually "new", simply that it should have been labled as NOS Curious to see how/if it works doesnt appear much different in function than the little yellow one Thanks for all the input from everyone have also checked into the downloads for my Droid as well just rather have a handheld GPS go flyin than my smart phone Tom

The tech line at Garmin told me there have been major upgrades in the last few years
Probably be worth returning and getting a newer unit

Talked to Garmin as well today with the supplied patch lead I can down load fresh updated software from my oldest PC at the shop (still has Windows XP) Garmin says the Vista hasn't changed since intro and..... the seller was embarrased to the point where they "comped" it to me for free so will update it and rock it !
