Default Jet Boat cooling water strainer/filter???

Looking into installing a filter/strainer on my mild build 468, AT pump with A impeller, no water regulator or thermostat on water supply.

Here in Alabama the lakes have debris like leaves, twigs, etc....my header lines get clogged from time to time and I have to clean them. And I am sure some of this debris finds its way and hides out in the engine....

Looking for an economical solution. Not knowing how much water pressure is generated in the cooling lines from the pump, I would like to know what filters/strainer you may be running. I have seen a wide variety discussed here ranging from $9 to $600+.

What is a good dependable "middle of the road" filter/strainer?

    TIA for your thoughts...

Perko makes some really nice ones.

I have been using them for years with very few complaints.

These are rebuild able and hold a lot of crap before they need to be cleaned. Be sure to use a pressure relief valve before the strainer to ensure a "tattle tale" that there is an issue...

    Thanks! This is good info
What info you got on "relief valve" Pressure rating?
Based on the lack of replies to this thread, apparently there are not many jet boaters running strainers....

I'm using a simple bronze strainer. P/N 43935K25 from McMaster-Carr. As GT Jets alludes, you need to have some indication of if/when it plugs up. I monitor water pressure.....

SNiC -- where are you at in AL? I am temporarily displaced to Montgomery ... been to the Al river and Lake Martin both pretty nice ... although Lake Martin was nutz over Labor Day ... not in a good Havasu way but in too many roll bar boats making a mess of the lake way.

    Cheers
