My boat has an one wire alternator. I want to replace the Perko two battery switch because it's not making consistent contact on battery one. The model currently in the boat has the "Alternator Field Disconnect" feature.
Question #1. I'm not sure if I need this feature, because everything I've read indicates that this is used when a separate voltage regulator is being used. Am I correct?
I have traced one of the three AFD wires to the area where the alternator lives, and it is not connected to anything. The other two continue up towards the front of the boat as a pair and I've not been able to see where they terminate.
Question #2 Where do they go to?
