    I know John D has been 5.4x @ 151 1000ft with his single carb/vortech deal.

They have to turn the tune up down a bunch to run the 6.0 1,000ft class at firebird.

I found this on the SITC thread,
"... dillon went 5.85/149 on the last pass.... "

    Amazing.
10 years ago you wouldn't have thought it possible without a capsule boat and nitro.
Just a few years back the west coast guy (William) was trying to break 150 with a BAE Hemi in a Mach jetboat.
I think all those listed in this thread were BBC (type) engines.

Ron's deal dont count he's not tryin hard. It would do that with a rag in a turbo. Years ago I was one of the few around these parts (Tusa area) trying to make a jet run hard then he pulls that thing out & made me look ike a 2 bit a$$hole !!!

Mid 5,40's at 147. I think a better question is how many jets belong to the 1320 6 second club?

    Craig,

You are right, there have not been a great many in recent years to run the 150. It is a big feat. But at the same time it is nothing new. I remember back in the early 1980's, boats coming over to SDBA races at Waco from California such as the Place Bros. with their Placecrafts name Going Places and Snap, Crackle & Pop running in the 155 to 160 range. These were Berkely jets with Donovan power tuned by the legendary Mike Kuhl. Open cockpit boats. I believe Smokin & Strokin', Jerry Wallace, tuned by David Kirkland and other boats also reached these open cockpit numbers. Cheyenne 372 is a great historian and has a better memory intact and he may can add to some of the historical fast figures.

However, I do think we have the boats running QUICKER now than we may have in those days. We are learning how to lauch the hulls from dead stops and keep them hooked up along the way better than the rolling start years.

By the way.... Good Job to you and Ray and others running the big numbers at SITC!!!
