Default How to tell a stock shaft from AQ?

I bought a driveshaft and would like to know if it is an AQ or just stock. It looks a little different from the one I had already that was out of a 12JC-A. The splines are different and so are the ends. Can anyone tell me the differences? Here are pics of the newer one.

Is it magnetic? Cause the higher grade stainless steels are magnetic, I think from 400 series on up. Anything below 400 series is non-magnetic.

The magnetic properties of stainless steel are very dependent on the elements added into the alloy, and specifically the addition of nickel can change the structure from magnetic to non-magnetic. There are different grades of Aquamet as well, with the nickel and manganese being the biggest difference (between AQ 18 and 22)

Here's some comparisons for grins. Notice the big differences between Aq 18 and 22 in the Manganese and Nickel.

    316 stainless
    C <.03%
    Cr 16-18%
    Ni 10-14%
    Mo 2-3%
    Mn <2%
    Si <1%
    P <.045%
    S <.03%

    AQ 18
    C <.15%
    Cr 16.5-19.5%
    Ni .5-2.5%
    Mo ----
    Mn 11-14%
    Si <1%
    P <.04%
    S <.03%

    AQ22
    C <.06%
    Cr 20.5-23.5%
    Ni 11.5-13.5%
    Mo 1.5-3%
    Mn 4-6%
    Si <1%
    P <.04%
    S <.03%

Just some trivial info for anyone interested.
