    Default Driveline removal

    I posted this in the dyno section but I think its more of I pump Issue Im trying to disconnect the driveline from the flywheel to see if the clunk im hearing is the motor or the pump. I could use some help in figuring out how to get the driveline disconnected . I think its a gleenwood bell housing. At this point I cant even get a grease gun on the fitting on the U joint . Any advise ????

    Looks pretty simple, If bellhousing isn't 2 pieces at the end by pump then pull engine! I have the same luck

    take off the two allen bolts and unbolt the bolts from it and the bell housing. I may give you enough room. If not pull the engine. Dan

    Thats the same setup i have. Even with that driveline cover plate off(housing with the allen bolts), you still cant take the driveshaft in and out without cherry picking the motor up a bit to make more room. I actually cut drive shaft housing in half lengthwise(think clamshell), so i could remove it to expose the drive shaft for visual inspection and to check the PTO bolts and flywheel bolts. It was a good idea but without the motor or pump moved one way or the other, the shaft still wont come off. Sucks, but oh well. Most drive shafts on cars/trucks have a slip yoke that allows the drive shaft to be compressed and extended. if jet boats were set up this way, you could compress the drive shaft and then easily remove it. However, it splines onto the pumpshaft in the jet drive too far to pull it back towards the flywheel to remove it.

    FYI, you do need that housing, it acts as your "3rd" motor mount and supports the weight of the engine.

    Get an engine hoist, take the mounts lose, lift the engine and service the driveline!!!! If you ever decide to redo the boat I would get rid of that 3 point mount fast. They create more pressure on the pump than the keel should need to handle! Not to mention the intake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Note the stainless strut from stringer to stringer and mounted to the pump and bell housing. Last owner was a machinist and made custom stainless brackets for everything
