    Default Ouch....

Had a bad night at the races last week. First pass, clipped a seagull's wing with my helmet. Sucker couldnt get up fast enough. Then second pass, about quarter track, heard a boom and some vibration. All the vitals looked ok on the gauges. Thought maybe I sucked up the seagull I took out. Got back to the pier, let it cool off, and realized there was a crap load of water in the boat! A weight broke off the flywheel, and sliced through the bottom!! Huge thanks to George @ ARS Marine for taking it friday night to flip it and fix it! Hopefully have it back today or tomorrow.

Not really repairs, just the fill in from the set back. It was done long before I got the boat, and obviously, not the best job. Needed to be re-done anyhow. I just wish it was 4 weeks from now when the racing season was over, not smack dab in the middle of the points race!

Yeah no kidding, Timing is everything, aint it? Yeah i just noticed the screw in the bottom and usually you dont see that unless someone was holding the boat together before glassing a repair.

I guess I should read before I type

BTW, I was under my boat this weekend and decided to change my hardware bolts. I was wondering if you use stainless or grade 8,5 or black oxide ?
This was a topic on the HB site and a lot of people stated they would never use stainless to hold their hardware in place.

We've always used stainless and just replace the bolts every year. Have never lost a bolt But anyway I just purchase a box of Black Oxide (100 count) for $ 10.73 Just wondering what you and other's use ?

The picture of your hardware made me think about it:
